Saya menyebarkan ini karena saya beranggapan bahwa bangsa ini perlu sosok pemimpin yang baru, yang mempunyai visi dan misi untuk memajukan bangsa ini. Ditengah krisis pemimpin di negeri ini.

Saya ingin mengucapkan terima kasih atas perhatian dan simpati Anda semua, baik yang berada di tanah air maupun yang di luar negri. Dalam waktu singkat, lewat Facebook, milis-milis di internet, maupun media massa konvensional di tanah air, begitu banyak yang memberi komentar, salam persahabatan, dukungan, pertanyaan, keraguan, hingga kritik yang tajam terhadap saya.
Teknologi membuka berbagai kemungkinan baru, termasuk dalam menyatukan perhatian beragam komunitas dari berbagai belahan dunia untuk menyampaikan pendapat secara cepat dan personal. Hal ini tentu perlu disambut dengan tangan terbuka.
Saya minta maaf sebab tidak mungkin membalas satu persatu sapaan yang datang kepada saya.
Dalam kesempatan ini, saya hanya ingin menyampaikan bahwa alasan utama bagi saya untuk tampil sekarang adalah untuk memberi alternatif baru dalam proses pemilihan kepemimpinan nasional. Sebenarnya, soal ini bukanlah soal saya sebagai pribadi, tetapi persoalan sebuah generasi dan sebuah bangsa yang harus terus bergerak maju.
Sejak 10 tahun terakhir, pilihan-pilihan kepemimpinan nasional tidak banyak berubah. Gus Dur dan Amien Rais tampaknya masih ingin ikut pemilihan presiden tahun depan, mendampingi Presiden SBY dan Wapres Kalla serta Megawati. Begitu juga Jenderal (purn) Wiranto dan Letjen (purn) Probowo. Mungkin Sultan Hemengkubuwono X dan Letjen (purn) Sutiyoso juga akan turut serta.
Saya menghormati tokoh-tokoh senior tersebut. Tapi apakah pilihan kepemimpinan nasional harus berkisar hanya di seputar mereka, sebagaimana yang terjadi setelah Soeharto lengser? Apakah di Indonesia terjadi stagnasi dalam sirkulasi kepemimpinan nasional, sehingga wajah-wajah baru tidak mungkin muncul sama sekali? Jika di Amerika Serikat muncul Obama (47 tahun) dan di Rusia ada Medvedev (44 tahun), mengapa kita tidak? Bukankah Republik Indonesia sebenarnya dipelopori oleh para tokoh yang saat itu berusia muda, seperti dr. Tjipto Mangunkusumo, HOS Tjokroaminoto, Sukarno, Hatta, Sjahrir?
Somebody has to do something. Kita harus menunjukkan bahwa Indonesia adalah bangsa besar yang dinamis, berjalan mengikuti perubahan zaman dengan membuka diri terhadap berbagai kemungkinan baru. Kita harus berkata kepada para senior tersebut, we respect you, Sir and Madam. But please give some space to our new generation. Sudah saatnya generasi baru kepemimpinan di Indonesia turut serta dalam penentuan kehidupan bersama pada level politik yang tertinggi.
Pemikiran seperti itulah yang memberanikan saya untuk tampil sekarang. Dengan segala kelemahan yang ada, saya bersyukur mendapat kesempatan untuk melakukannya. Memang, kalau dipikir-pikir, kata beberapa kawan dekat saya, keputusan itu agak gila sedikit. Lebih banyak beraninya ketimbang pertimbangan yang dingin dan rasional.
Saya bukan menteri atau mantan menteri. Saya bukan ketua umum partai, bukan presiden atau mantan presiden ….. Selengkapnya
CaPres Muda

Beberapa waktu lalu kita gencar-gencarnya mendengar capres dari calon independent dari orang – orang muda negeri ini, seperti kutipan berikut ini.
Belakangan ini, sejumlah orang muda, yang mungkin mengingat kembali cita-cita masa kecilnya, berniat untuk maju menjadi presiden. Sebut saja, Rizal Mallarangeng dan M. Fadjroel Rachman. Jauh sebelumnya, Zulvan Lindan juga mencalonkan diri menjadi orang nomor satu negeri ini. Di waktu-waktu mendatang, mungkin kita masih akan menyaksikan banyak anak muda mencalonkan diri jadi pemimpin Indonesia.
Apakah ada yang salah? Jelas tidak ada. Bagi mereka yang muak dengan kepemimpinan orang-orang tua (berapa persisnya umur seseorang untuk bisa dikategorikan muda atau tua, tidaklah jelas benar dan tidak ada definisi yang baku. Tapi sebagian orang sepakat umur di bawah 50 tahun bisa disebut orang muda dalam kategori politik), pasti akan berteriak, “Saatnya orang muda memimpin.” Bukan soal umur betul yang membuat kita mendukung anak muda itu untuk ikut bertarung jadi presiden, tapi memang karena tidak ada aturan yang melarangnya. Menurut saya sudah saatnya terjadi perubahan dalam dunia politik di indonesia [ walaupun gak seberapa ngerti ]. Tapi siapapun yang akan maju dan akan menduduki kursi presiden berkewajiban untuk membangkitkan bangsa ini dari keterpurukan. Hal ini tentunya menjadi tolak ukur seberapa berhasilnya presiden kita membangun bangsa ini..
Jadi saya harapkan dan tentunya seluruh masyarakat bangsa indonesia harapkan adalah munculnya sosok pemimpin yang memiliki jiwa dan keinginan murni untuk benar – benar membangun bangsa ini, jangan terus mencalonkan diri jadi presiden hanya untuk mencari fasilitas, ketenaran, duit untuk memperkaya diri sendiri.
